Need suggestions, I've got a 1917 Dodge roadster that's running the stock non pressurized radiator and cool old moto-meter, cooling an early 283. My problem is that at speeds above 50 mph I'm having water coming out of the threads of the moto-meter or moto meter itself. I would hate to scrape the moto-meter, need suggestions on fixing the leak.
There are repair kits and parts it seems but obviously there are a many models and years...but they may be somewhat standardized... https://www.restorationstuff.com/ecommerce/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=103_107 https://www.modeltford.com/model-t-parts/radiator-fan-and-water-pump/radiators/moto-meters/repair/ http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/331880/371661.html?1373645279 https://www.brattons.com/moto-meter-repair-kit.html
By the way Picasso Good pics help here...and are you just running water? If so proper coolant may help...
I had a problem like that with a stock 32 Hupmobile. At speed it would pump more water into the top tank than would flow through the unpressurized core. Even with a thermostat in it. The fix was a round slug of brass with a 3/4" hole in it, clamped into the top radiator hose. It cut the water volume down to what would flow through the core, without overflowing. It did not cause it to overheat.
