Thanks for the props Gary, but I wouldn't put my heap in the same class as Chrisman.

"Bruce,Who's owns the Model A on the cover? HRP"...right now, no idea...I think it was a pair of brothers, from memory. Can't find that issue around the house, pulled cover from goooooogle.

First Orange Crate was a 32 as stated. I think Big Al looked meaner personally.

The Chrisman car was the first thought I had, but the red one of Don Grant's was the one that I have always loved since that mag came out when I was a lot younger. It is still alive but has been grey for many years. That car just had a great stance to it.

  11. Hey bud,
Love the Ansens (those are ansens?) Are those old Dunlaps on the front? Looks good anyway.

I like the Chrisman car, but I like Roots 'fly and flamedabone's sedan as well. I think that all three will be remembered for a very long time.

I could not tell you who had a famous A bone, I see them that I like and them that I don't.

Christman's has to be #1 but that red HRM cover car has stuck in my mind for all these years. It was the main motivation when I started building mine. Never quite got to the red paint but it does have a gold SBC with three deuces.

Chrisman's and Roth's did it for me . . . and influenced my Tudor a bit too. ;)

The red '29 on the cover of Hot Rod belongs to Don Grant. It is the January '63 issue. The car was also featured in the August '72 issue of Street Rod. He still has the car and he is on our list of people to do an article with. We've always loved this car too.

  16. Don Grant, facing the camera. Don still owns and drives the sedan. It was his first car. I met Don in '72 when I was building my '28 Tudor. His was inspiration for mine.

  17. Well, you didn't exclude open cars so I will go out on a limb and mention the deluxe phaeton (two door) built late 50's or early 60's called the "fabulous phaeton" It absolutely is the first one to come to my mind and has always been a favorite of mine. Any one have a pic.? Tim

Roots Drag-N-Fly was on the 2004 HAMB Drags shirt, the first one to actually have a members car on it. Can't get any more famous than that...

This one is owned by a famous artist some of you might know. This is Coop's Tudor sedan, and the photo was taken one cold sunny sunday morning between Christmas and new years in Pasadena, CA. Pete Eastwood's vintage driving tour. Great car though, I circled around this thing a few times.

It did not copy the picture in my last reply. Lets see if I can post it here.
