Your front axle will need to be narrowed as mine did. I used a 54 F100 front axle . Cut 6 1/4 inches out of it. Built a jig to line everything back up and welded it back together. Unless you want the front tires outside of the body . I used my axle because it was free and had new king pins and disc brakes. The 59 Ford rear end should be a 9 inch and if you are lucky enough for it to be a station wagon it is slightly narrower . You will still have to cut it or it too will be too wide. My housing is 44 inches and with 8 inch wheels and 9 inch slicks they still are outside of the body a little. My old street Morris rear end was 38 inches and I had 10 inch wheels and 295-60x15 tires under the fenders.
Had one and advertised on here when I stripped the car .Some guy came and I loaded his pickup with everything I wasn't going to use for $ 200. Even had a nice steering wheel.
There was one of the Morris pickups on Craigslist close to here a while back. Already had a 2x4 chassis built with a narrowed 9", it was set up so that you could build it as a extended cab or stock cab, bed would have to be built to fit. If I had of had the extra cash I would have checked into it.
I definitely want a wider track width in the front, I don't like when the front axle is real narrow like it'll flop over on its side.. I have a built 12bolt rear axle with Strange goods out of a 1974 Nova.. I want the rear tires to stick out past the fenders, with the right offset wheels looks like tires will stick out past the fenders 3-4" maybe 5"... The wheels and tires that are on the 12 bolt currently are Mickey Thompson 31x10.5 15's slicks and would stick out past the fenders 6" but I want to find a different off set wheel... Look at the Anglia that runs with the Southeast Gassers. His front end is wider than the fenders and the rear tires are way out also.
That's exactly the look I'm going for.. like a grasshopper Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app

The SEG gasser with the wider frt. rear set up is the SUNSHINE EXPRESS anglia. Car was originally from PA. Strong runner!
"CORRECTION" should say AA/FA.. I'll change it.. too much LoneStar beer .. lol Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app

Why don't you just fab the panels from sheet metal and not pay all that shipping and parts from the U.K. It would buy more Lonestar's or let me think... Car parts. You are going to have to fab up everything for the car anyway so why not get started on something simple ,like a few patch panels.
Trunk patch panel was cheap... and had all the inner support channel.. I will fab everything else Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Glad you found a replacement panel cheap. They want $350 plus shipping for the lower rear panel across the back for my 40 chev coupe. This is going to be a bad little rod. Really like this build.
Thanks Mike.. do you have a build thread on your 40 Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Tire mock up.. I measured the width of the axles width tires on and this is how far tires will stick out. And again I know it's supposed to say AA/FA, still need to re-do it.. haha Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Hey do your doors open with ease or are the hinges kinda stiff on all Morris Minors.. I've been soaking them with oil and they seam to get better each day Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Some dude told me the 1954 chevy 1/2 ton truck straight axle is weak? Is that true.. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
No, it's not a period correct gasser, it has a 4 link under it right now. I do as I can afford. That axle is plenty stout.
Steve Kirk drew a salt racer inspired Minor years ago. It would be cool if somebody built something like that...
I found a neat trick that makes mock up easy. Take pvc heavy wall pipe the width you want and get the pipe caps for the pvc they fit through the center holes in your wheels and makes a good mock up rear end for getting all of your measurements.
"Steve Kirk drew a salt racer inspired Minor years ago. It would be cool if somebody built something like that." We took my brother's Morris to the salt one year to run it in a non SCTA event. It did fine 'till it hit 139-140 mph where it would inevitably spin...must have done it 3-4 times. They need a little aero help to go really fast. The fat rear tires didn't help either.
