I just got these off the camera and posted them. Enjoy... Nowhere near the same league as the rest of the field, but my 51 made it up there and back with no major issues -- the first time the car has ventured further than the corner gas station. A pretty happy thing for me. Tons more here: Jalopy Showdown 2008 Flickr Set
Uh oh, I think I found them on flickr and posted a link to them-hope you don`t mind!? I see you contacted me on flickr! Cool! Your panned shots on the track are really great. Looks like the cars are going a million!
I agree. Great shot of that Flathead powered roadster!!! And Damn didn't it sound good when he was making laps on the dirt?!!!!!! ..Don.
Ha. I must have missed you posting a link to them already. Thanks for the compliments on the panned shots. I'm still learning this camera. By the time it got around to cars running on the track I had mostly filled my camera card so I didn't get that many shots there. I missed a lot of the cars that weren't there first thing in the morning too Still a great time though. I can't wait for the drags this fall.
Very nice pic!! And i'll agree with the sound of it as well...It sure as hell wasn't stock..the sound of that thing was PRICELESS! Sounded sooooooo good he got into it in the straights.... Thanks for the pics.. Tony
<camerageekery>It's a Nikon D80. Most of the static show shots were taken with a Sigma 10-20mm, the on-track shots were taken with a Nikkor 50mm 1.8</camerageekery>
Glad you liked it. I don't know about a poster print, the original could probably be printed up to 30x40 though. It seems like the little woman actually digs that first shot too... so maybe I will have it printed 11x14 or something at least (I'll take "I like it" in this case to mean "you have my full approval to hang this in the living room".
If they had a show like that in California, I would do nothing but play in the mud!! Maybe I'll just have to drive out there!! I like these ones:
Wow. Great shots, Brad. I can almost hear the flathead in that first photo. Glad the '51 made it up and back alive. Suprised you didn't brave the track with it!
I was considering myself lucky to make it up there in one piece, wasn't feeling like pushing my luck quite that far *yet*. If I can get things a little better sorted by this fall I might be up for a few (slow) trips down the track at the showdown drags.
