I have a customer with a 1960 Desoto Adventurer, and what I know about Mopars you could put in a thimble, I need to know if I can use a new style split rear main seal instead of the rope seal, and I need to know if parts are available and from who, O yeah it has either a 361 or 383 engine, one owner car and has been garaged since new, it needs trinkets. thanks for all your help:confused:

  2. You can use the newer neoprene seal. I have one in my 440, no problems with it.

All of the 361, 383, 400, 413, 426, and 440's use the same rear seal. I always use the split seal with no problems but I do take extra care when installing it. I have heard great things about the billet rear seal retainer from Mancini Racing but I have not used it myself.

I just got some parts (pulleys & brackets) for my 383 from 440source.com. The quality on these parts looks good. They are located real close to you so delivery would be quick, but I'll bet seals are available at your local NAPA.
