A Y block and a 221 -400 Ford have the same bore centers Just like a 348- 409 and a 396-454 have the same bore centers In both cases there is a 1/4 inch difference in the main bearing size

Big block Chevy rods in stroked big block Mopars is pretty common too. The Chevy big end is smaller and the wrist pin is both smaller and lighter.

i have friends that do call it frankenstein. the driver, my son, has turned it to 7500 with a blower. only lost one head gasket in running it all these years. 350's are pretty stout compared to the 455 and v6.

There was an episode of Vice Grip garage that featured a 318, with a 360 stroke crank and they adapted LS Shiverlay rockers. I don't know if the crank they used was an aftermarket crank with 318/340 main diameters or if a stock 360 crank had the mains ground to the smaller size.
Personally, I couldn't make sense of that as small block mopars already have shaft mount rockers. I'm not up to speed on the later model Magnum heads. Pedestal mount maybe? If so, maybe that's why they did it.
I ran a 340 drag/street racer for a number of years, and the crank was not a weak point. The rods were not a weak point aside from being heavier than a small block Shiverlay. So trying to fit a Shiverlay crank doesn't make any sense either. The weakness was the oiling system. A long fairly small diameter pick-up tube is the primary culprit, along with a strange galley layout. I found out the hard way that using heavier weight oil was not the fix for the chronic low oil pressure problem. That long skinny pick up just made it starve for oil at higher RPM. Spun a LOT of rod bearings.
I do like the idea of the 360 crank in an otherwise mundane 318 though. Makes it pretty close to 350 I think....give or take an inch or two!

Will a 472 Cadillac cam fit my 283 Chevy? I want a bigger lift cam for more power and I have the parts. :p:D
