This is getting off topic (pretty unusual here) but just after the 2.0 world war the big manufacturers were wondering what to do with that capacity. One answer was pre-fab enameled steel homes, aka "that god$&@mned Tin house". The whole thing would show up at the site on a flatbed trailer. They were called Lustron Homes, and they built maybe 2500 of them. They seem to be sprinkled fairly well around the US in most towns. Probably most people have seen one, maybe without knowing what it was.
I sure miss the days when each town had two or three major (Sears, MW, Penny's, etc.) stores that you could TRUST to have what you needed, at a quality you could afford, and a business ethic you could depend on. Each had their own name brands that were made by someone else, but they were manufactured to their specs and had good guaranties. They served and supplied this country well. Aw, the good ole days...
Sears automotive was run pretty well, at least the one around here. Tires, shocks, brakes, batteries, stuff like that. I don't know how they did it, but I don't seem to recall a lot of drama about appointments they could get you in and out real fast.
