I dig it with both set ups. That is one sweet car. I'll bet it's a blast to drive. Nice job!

it wasn't like it was a real black widow in the first place, so no harm done.

nice car. since we are all offering our opinions I would have done it with natural finish valve covers, I'm not feeling the air cleaners either, are those just regular aftermarket style? what about Corvette air cleaners?

I had the aluminum 57 Corvette air cleaners on there, but the valve covers (as has been pointed out) kinda overcame them. So my plan was to have them chrome plated (gasp!) and these Mr Gaskets are temporary while the others are out for chrome. The 57 vette ones are definitely more unique and cooler...

Well, the next time you feel bored and restricted, why don't we swap cars....I'd be thrilled with either version, but to be honest I like the after better....this is the HAMB after all, stock cars (pun intended) are boring (even if they're clones of the baddest production racer ever).:D

I like both versions. While I prefer the orange covers too, those covers are still better than having a set of billet covers with flames milled on them or "Heartbeat of America."

It is an aluminum pipe nipple that was used to help cool the brake fluid from the heat off the exhaust...or at least that's how the legend goes.

I've owned 3 '55 210 Del Ray Sedans but given a chance I'd really like a '57 150. Yours is beautiful and I agree the orange valve covers look better. Great car!!!!

I love both versions!!!! Really awesome!!!

I like stock tin chevy valve covers but you guys are on crack if you think they're a better looking valve cover then the Corvettes units. I'll go as far as saying that the Vette's are the best looking VC ever made for a SBC.

I love it either way..... but i love the 'vette covers better

BTW if those are staggered pattern covers, i'd trade a strait across pair or LOVE to hear where you got those already chromed...

if your going for sixties, I'd keep the vette valve covers. If your going for new millenium, HAMB friendly neo-traditional, the painted steelies are better.

Nice car and being able to change it's identity at will, is a bonus. I'll also say that I have no idea what the Black Widow was and I'd venture there's quite a few more who don't know and just won't speak up.

  28. I've never understood the whole "clone" thing. I think you did an awesome job on the car and I like the changes because it makes it yours, not a copy of someone elses ideas. I wouldn't worry about what anyone else thinks, it's your car, and you obviously know what looks good.
