Okay boys and girls - Its almost showtime! The photos below are just some of the stuff (far less than half) sent to me in advance, or from my personal stash. The response from the artists here has been absolutely overwhelming. Also, I know that more items are in the mail right now, and of course, I expect more cool art and Tees to show up at the track. Besides the teaser items shown here, there are a couple original hand-painted HAMB Drags banners, an Old Crow Speed Shop Tee, several more gorgeous prints, some hand-drawn sketches, and other pieces of art. Other collectables and memorabillia include, a custom-cast aluminum shift knob, "Little Pages" Rod & Custom books, a Don Garlits Museum mouse pad and money clip, a CD with the complete "Arin Cee" cartoon series by the legendary Pete Millar (along with an enamal Drag CarToons pin), a sew-on Isky "Big I" patch, three big packages of stickers (including one containing over a hundred items), several other old-days publications, and on and on. There's even a 1960s drag racing novel for your kids to read. As far as "hard parts", I'm bringing the artillery wheels (with vintage Firestones), and a pair of early Ford lever shocks. I have promises from others for a set of SBC "Rams horn" exhausts, a 289 Ford cam, and much more. Again, I expect shitloads more to show up at MoKan. I'm not leaving for Joplin until early Friday, so there's still time to get mailable items to me if you send them by tomorrow. And of course, I'll be at the Ramada parking lot Friday evening and Saturday before the track opens, so be SURE to bring something along to donate - and get your name entered in the exclusive (donors and helpers only) "Big Sounds of the Drags" record album drawing. Look for the big white truck with "Silent Auction" signs plastered on its sides. This year looks to be a real "Barn-burner" as we say here in corn country - so be there or be square! PM me if you have questions. P.S. Don't forget to bring along a fistfull of extra cash! I guarantee you'll be glad you did!
wow. Lots of cool swag. I completely forgot about this. I'll see if I can get some more of those Holley/Weiand retro logo t shirts in the mail. Where is the address to send stuff to? I missed the announcement of this alltogether. Mike
BTTT Too late now to send stuff to me in advance, but BE SURE to stop by and do some "shopping" when you get to MoKan. I still have new stuff coming in the mail every day, and have "pledges" for many more items at the track. I have almost 50 things to bring along so far. Sounds like the track will be open a bit earlier this year, so there should be plenty of time for everyone to get by and scope out the auction items. Hope to see you all there. Just look for the BIG white truck!
BTTT Sorry for all the "boosts" here folks. Apparently, all the "mucketty-mucks" here are on vacation - or on the way to Joplin - and I can't get any of them to make this a "sticky", so I'll keep bringing it back to page one the hard way. (-: I don't want anyone to miss out on all this cool shit.
BTTT - one last time. Its Thursday and cool shit is still arriving - had a UPS package dropped at my door this morning (a pair of F1 shock mount brackets!). Also, I got a BITCHIN' cast aluminum "Indian/Skull" shift knob and a nifty fluted in-line fuel filter yesterday. If you haven't headed out to Joplin yet, there's still time for you to grab something to donate - doesn't have to be a "biggie", everything is worthwhile. Once you get there - don'tcha DARE forget to come by the truck and check out the goodies. I promise you'll be amazed - and will be kicking yourself if you don't. Thanks to all who have donated - and will be donating. The silent auction has become a special part of the HAMB Drags, and its because of your generosity. This is gonna be a really good one. See ya at MoKan!
