WELL, I've come to the realization lately that I'm never going to get around to resurrecting the lakes modified website (formerly at danielstrohl.com). Life has taken me into too many other directions.

BUT, I'd like to hand it off and see it continue. I'll warn you right now that it's a labor of love, but it's worth it when folks come up to you and tell you how much they enjoy it.

SO, if you know web stuff (written in ASP, pre-.NET), have some spare web storage to park the site, and want to run the modifieds site, let me know.

(RYAN, I would've asked you, but you seem rather busy with all that's going on. But if it'd help you with content, you got first dibs.)

    Foul,
That is a great site! I was elated to see my car on it. I'm computer savy, but I don't do web programing.

Good luck finding a someone to take it over.

I've been wondering when you were gonna get that site back up and running. I love to lurk through your pictures. I hope someone steps up and takes it over, it is a great site.

Also, thanks for taking it to the point it is at now.

I know how it is... I sold ReadersRides.com this year because I don't have time to mess with it. Maybe if I didn't like my kids.

Foul, fellow Vermonter here...I would be glad to host the site and do what I can to add to it, too. Let me know, if Ryan isn't interested. It was a great site and a great resource.

    I love modifieds.

I'm a computer geek by trade.

    I've done some ASP programming.

I visited that sight many times when building Buckshot.

If no one else pans out, I should be able to handle it.

i'm glad to hear that there is interest by qualified folks who can keep this site going. if it disappears i'll be disappointed.

as has been said already: thanx, daniel, for starting it and keeping it going as long as you did.

  20. Where can I learn more about ASP?
I do all of my writing in HTML and use Front Page on occasion.

Here's hoping you find someone to keep the site going. It was one of my favorites and an inspiration to get going on my project.

If it's in a database and can be transported, I can get it into PHP and all the latest/greatest. If someone could do some art, I think there's enough of us to make it fly. I'd hate to see this become another cog in a marketing machine.

thanks for all the offers of assistance, guys. don't think I'm taking them lightly, either.

Stevie - to learn ASP, you have to first sacrifice a virgin on the altar of Bill Gates and promise him your ever-endearing soul. After that, you're in like flynn.

I learned out of a book and constantly looking up scripts on ASP-specific sites. If you really want to learn the higher-level stuff, either go with PHP or ASP.NET.

If you know PHP, ASP will take you about a week to pick up... and then about four years to understand. It's pretty messy. ;)

Oh -- probably not the kind of PHP your thinking of . . . I've been doing OOP and all sorts of weird stuff, including AMFPHP (Flash Remoting) and other things. Now I'm playing with AJAX stuff and going "yea, I was doing this like ? years ago" in ColdFusion with Flash. :)
