"Shallcross". The dealership still exists in Middletown DE
Robbie is from Sydney, Australia and was a standout at Castlereagh, his local strip although this photo was taken at Surfers Paradise International Raceway in Queensland. Robbie was actually here in the US last month.
Got another story of somebody seeing their old car on here .
I got a "conversation" from member Buford who has been on the HAMB since 2001 but has slowed down lately. It seems I posted this car back on Dec 2017 and a friend of Buford saw it and sent it to him.
He sent this message
Hi: you posted this 5Dec/2017 and it was forwarded to me...I thought you'd get a kick out of talking to the owner (Spring of '67). I am an old fart now and a HAMB member. That photo is early 1967 at Cayuga Ontario drag strip in the C/MP class running a 311 cu. in. SBC. It was a strong runner and I had a lot of fun back then (52 years ago)..."those where the days my friend, we thought they'd never end". I don't get on the HAMB as much anymore; reply if I can add more. (I hope the photo came through, I'm not whoopy with a 'puter) Thanks, Frank

Carroll Caudles 55 at a show last week.
Seaport Automotive Courtesy car LOL
Has been closed for at least 10 years
Thanks--it still shows up on the web in business listings.

Brian Bachelder’s Z11^^^. That car still exists, and I’m pretty sure it looks just like that picture to this day. D/MP must have a small block in it?? Tunnel ram looks like...
That '63 is not a Z-11. Also D/MP in that body would have been a big block.
Welp, you obviously don’t know your Z-11’s.
Brian bought it new at Woodward & Austin Chevrolet, Portland, ME. Car is unrestored in AZ still has front end as of 2015. Originally the car was ember red when new. Later Brian painted it blue and ran it with a different motor in the late '60's. It was sold in hemmings in the late '70's to the current owner.
I would like to know why WGuy doesn't think post#1608 is a Z-11.
I knew about the red car, but not after it changed. I'm not sure that front end is the original aluminum though. There's no evidence of emblem holes or the front spears on this used one I had. and it looks TOOOOO nice!
Hemi Wagon Yea Yea I know it has B/FX but it got thrown into that in the beginning but was always a M/P car
This link definitely belongs on this thread. Carroll Caudle behind the wheel of his famous 55 in 2019.
Sounds good but I’ll bet it really sounds great with open exhaust.
Always one of my favorites.
Atta boy Smoothy!! Thanks for posting!
I was in Amarillo for work last June, and I stopped by Carroll’s shop, the same shop behind the cameraman. Had high hopes of meeting him and maybe seeing that car, but no dice unfortunately. Building was closed up tight, not a soul around. I read about Carroll in a biography about Vic Edelbrock a few years ago, there were a couple pics of that 55 in it. I really like how clean and sanitary (and competitive!!) that car was/is.
It’s remarkable that Carroll hung onto that car all these decades. One of the very few race cars of that era that didn’t disappear in the sands of time.
I think he still has the Vega he replaced the 55 with as well.
