Yea,I prefered AHRA(All Hot Rods Allowed) over NHRA(No Hot Rods Allowed).AHRA seemed more friendly, and had classes that us back yard builders could run,and be competive in,without braking the bank.

It seems that the majority of cars posted here are Chevrolets... Is this a fair representation of what ran? Mostly Chevys?

I ran F/MP in my 40 coupe in Reno in the mid 60's. I was running a Allstate flathead rebuild with a Edelbrock 4bbl and Holley.

Boy is that the truth. Ben Wezel who won the Jr. Stock Eliminator title in 1967 with a '67 Z-28 using an engine we (Shaker Engineering Bay City,MI) built ran a low 13 second E.T. the first time at the track when the car was new and unblueprinted.. Now the car runs in the 10's. Amazing!!!

I just had my first 'Bee On Video' experience, courtesy of Jim Amos Productions.

Just last week I sent Jim a few hundred feet of my old (62-66) 8 mm Drag-Racing footage and yesterday I got it back along with the DVD conversion. Jim graciously included a few of his offering along with my DVD.

Last night I viewed (1 hour, 56 min) of the 'NHRA Springnationals 1965 - 1968.' Having been there, I 'pretty much' had an idea what the footage would be like, but I was pleasantly surprised at the quality-level of the production. The many interviews Jim conducted ... Ronnie Sox, Hubert Pratt, Ron Mancini, Jack Werst, etc., were 'worth the price of admission.

Jim even filmed an 'on location' (narrated) short piece as he took a leisurely drive from the staging lanes to (1/2+ mile away) the 'emergency sand trap' at the very end of Bristol's 'Thunder Valley.' What a great idea!

    Kudos Jim!

This '68 Nova ran in B/MP at Connecticut Dragway and Lebanon Valley Dragway in the early 70s. 1st photo is from June, 1975. 2nd is how it looks today.
