Well, I got everything but the headlights wired. I also made a lower radiator hose using some chunks of random hose and a coupler thing I found at the hardware store. While testing the engine to burp the system and check thermostat and temp gauge, I was reminded that I needed to tighten the alternator pulley nut... Shit. Two steps forward, one step back.
Whew. This past couple weeks has been crazy. I pushed hard to get my car in running shape to go to a show and hour and a half South. My ladies Father offered to trailer it to the show running or not since he was helping volunteer ans his best buddy puts the show on. My tank didnt get etched and sealed in time so I ran a temp tank. Then busted a starter terminal off. After pulling the header to replace the starter with a spare I had, i realized the spare I had was missing the R terminal....crap. I have been having fuel issues and thought the Jetfire pumo I had was pushing too much pressure. Then busted a bolt putting in a spare....a shit show. But, at 5pm yesterday I drove my car around the yard. Then on to the highway. On the way back, I paused and burned the tires. Then the poor thing got put into the trailer and off to the show. About a month until the show I was pushing to have it done for. I'm in rat rod, street rod and muscle car country now so no other hot rods. Sad. Once I can figure out my friends videos, I'll post them. I still cant believe it's all mine. It was a pretty rad weekend.
I still have a ways to go before it's done, and before I feel better about it beng road worthy. It's a stiff SOB that's for sure! Still trying to figure out how to email vids with good quality. For now...this will have to do. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10100743496665372
https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10100746839990322 Our car was brought home this evening. We went for a little cruise by our home. It's loud minus a windshield. But it was fun. time for new tires. I need something a bit softer and round!
Yeah! You finished two cars in the time it took me to do one! I'm super stoked to get this finished up. Will you be at the Messaround?
Well done sir! Congrats. Nothing beats the feeling of driving something you built, even if it breaks the first couple times out! Enjoy it bro and remember: you beat patmanta to the street. HAHAHAHAHA
We have mentioned that to each other. Gotta talk to the Lucky Bastards about it. I hate to see the show go away, but I heard that have something else planned. Patmanta will get there! Once I'm done I get to do more parts buying. that's the funnest part for sure!
Last night we took it for a run to the little town close by. 16 miles total! Tomorrow we are driving it to Minneapolis for the Minneapolis Messaround. It'll be roughly 200 miles round trip! Wish me luck!
Well. We made the trip to Minneapolis for the last Messaround. This photo is with fellow club members. A little bit of brake wear problems and rain made it interesting. All in all a good time. And some donuts when we made it home...the joys of living in the middle of nowhere. https://instagram.com/p/7WMkHnrBOj/
Some club mates and I at the Mississippi Mayhem show this past weekend. It was a BLAST as usual! https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10206098106144119
Minneapolis to Mississippi ? !!! Damned cool Beau ! What kind of driving goggles did that entail ? 35 mpg is amazing.
In fifth gear I barely touch the throttle to go 55-60 mph. With new tires I should be able to cruise 70-75 mph on interstates. My lady drove it no problem. That means I will get a break on long trips.
Blew up the engine. Bought another engine. Had problems with the property we moved to and now we're buying a house back in the city. I have new tires and wheels waiting to be fitted. Once we get moved and settled in I will update!!! Also bought a '23 roadster body. I ts been quite the year. I'm tired of moving.
It's been quite the journey. We bought a house built in 1890. It has a smaller 3 stall garage from the 40's that I have gutted, electrified, heated, insulated and now working on finishing. Almost no hotrod work since my free time goes to garage and house work but I'm getting close to have all my lighting and wall coverings in. It's crazy how time flies. I also sold the '23 T roadster I was gathering parts for and picked up a clean 26/27 and some other goodies for down the road.
Cool! I moved too. Total pain in the ass, but I'm getting closer to being 'set-up'. My next move will be to a condo, or a coffin.
