Ray Desbrow's channeled pickup right next to it too! Another seriously neat car of the day.

Loved that car. I have visited with you in the past. I've been attending the FF since 1993.

So I posted this car sometime back when it first popped u p for sale (or at least, the first time I saw it anyway) and it has since bounced around a little before apparently landing in the hands of those ya-hoos down in Texas on that "reality" TV show...

At any rate, someone should really pick this up and give it a loving home on account of my inability too. I just love how ridiculous this car is. Also, ditch that corny batwing they decided to bolt on there...

How is that a '26? I'm betting title shenanigans, especially with a homemade frame and fiberglass body. There's nothing 1926 on that car. Looks like it was neat at one time though.

Yeah, true to form they're just ramming it through to make the buck.

When it first popped up the seller knew all sorts of cool history. It was built in the mid/late 60's at a GM dealership for their customer. At one time it had a real rare small block (since gone missing).

Beautiful! "I wouldn't change a thing." Well maybe it could use some disk brakes.

Kinda artsy fartsy. It was about 80 degrees Wednesday so I drove it to the club lunch. Maybe ten miles of backroads. Photo was taken from behind my front door window.

So, in 2011 I attended the GNRS for the first time. We stayed in the hotel right at the fairgrounds. The entire experience was like seeing all the California hot rods I'd read about for nearly 4 decades come to life. On one of my trips on the elevator, I might a fellow who identified himself as "Gonzo" who said he'd won the AMBR in '71. Recently, I plugged some holes in magazine collection, among them the June '71 issue of Hot Rod. Here is Gonzo's car, pretty of topic for this site considering the Jag rear and Weber carbs, but I think it's pretty cool. Forgive for the stupid PDF's, I'm still figuring out my new scanner

  27. I remember that car. I was at the 71 show. I had a bicycle in that show.

Lonnie Gilbertson's T actually won the AMBR twice -- one of only four or five cars to do that in 60+ GNRS shows.
It's in the vault at the Petersen currently, and looks nothing like it did in that article.

Oh yeah....it's THAT car. It didn't even occur to me that the nice looking red version was one and the same. I sure don't care for the update
