The '40 is the most customized... I built it as a pretty stock '40 Ford with a flat black paint job. I got tired of it and ripped it apart and chopped it, added fade away fenders, stovebolt 6 (to be different) and '57 Ford hubcaps.

Here's a favorite in my model car garage; a 32 Ford Tudor Sedan. I chopped the top, opened the roof, channeled the body and sectioned the rear quarters. The grille shell is canted back and slightly reshaped.

  9. Alyn - your engine detail is great! How'd you do the firewall?

(edit: all of your detail is great)

A couple older builds I pulled off the shelf and entered in a model car contest at the Labor Of Love car show in Burlington, KY last month. Haven't built nothing in awhile and wanted to add to the contest since I donated the trophies.

    Nice bubbletop, John

C&C, The firewall is machine-turned aluminum by hand. I used a toothpick with one end cut off and flattened, chucked up in a Dremel tool.

Old Sprinter, always enjoy seeing your great chassis work.

Wow, nice looking stuff! I'll echo every one else, I like that 40 Ford. The machine turned firewall is great as well as the dragsters. Nice!

I've been messing with making laminated dash knobs like those on the Hirohata & many others. I made some by gluing sheets of clear, colored & white plastic together in layers. I really wanted purple, but the local RC place didn't have that color, so I used blue to try this out.

These are the sheets I used.

Here is how they came out. The dash insert will be chrome plated. I put BMF on it many years ago for a mockup. The shift lever is a .017" guitar string.

Those knobs have to be the coolest thing I've ever seen done on a model build. I just wish I had started building models and stayed with it. I've only built a few and that was 20+ years ago.

    Great job, as usual, Alyn.

This is my latest. It started as a 1938 Mercedes-Benz W154 GP car rummage sale glue bomb by Hawk. I made a phantom Indy car out of it. The B. S. Levy Special.

It has custom wheels, and home made real gold leaf decals. It was built in just 8 days.

Don't you just love any car with special in it's name?
