Im looking for ideas on how to set up my '30 roadstster using a '40 ford rear end. Im trying to picture the stance of car using the Model A stock rear crossmember vs a flat '40 ford style rear crossmember & spring? I plan on using A rails not '32. Any suggestions or pics?
Discussed many times. A search is your friend. Hear is one http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=838506&highlight=banjo+rear+end John
Look up Chris' tech on putting a '40 rear end into a model a, with a bolt on spring over setup. It works great. I'm doing a similar thing in my roadster but with a '48 mercury rear end. Just need to space the spring hanger inboard by 25mm and machine a few little spacers and it works out just fine.
I based my '32 chassis on the link below. The link also has another link to the rear cross member. It is an excellent "how to" rivet your model A cross members in to make them look factory. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=610718
Here is mine. 40' rear with the spring on top. It's right out of the Tardel book. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
One more. Understand I have a 32' axle up front. Not dropped. The frame is kicked the width of the frame.Shortened torque tube. It works great. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
