Working on a buddies 30/31, need a pic of what the sub stanchions bolt to. Can we buy this piece? And where? The piece that goes behind these Screenshot_20230410-210701_Chrome.jpg

You may want to look for a donor car.....that's more than likely what happened to your bud's car....when someone got a load of what repops cost.

Henry originals on my '30 Roadster. You can see that the riveting is a bit complicated and the top door hinge mounts between them. I would think Brookville has them.

You will be welding to a forged original piece, a lot of things have to align perfectly so the post look right and everything is correct and strong at highway speeds hitting a flat windshield. A junk cowl with good pieces swap may be the better way to go.

I imagine to fabricate it, id have to bolt my pieces to the sub stanchions then assemble the entire setup with a ws frame to make sure its all square, tack it, pull it apart and finish weld it

That is the easy view. The lower station, gas tank, cowl panel, and under windshield piece, and door, all meet in that area. If you like equal gaps around everything there is a bunch of fitting, adjusting shimming and welding going on. Get the windshield fit first then fine tune the rest.:)
