Hey HAMB - I have a 28 Model A that has a Chevy 153 motor in it. I'm about to make a hood for it, but I'm concerned that the gap between the radiator and firewall is not large enough for a bigger engine. Someday I might want to put a flathead in.(?) Can some of you with larger engines comment on how large your gap is? I'm at 28" now. IMG_2762 by dicer2000 posted Sep 22, 2016 at 10:19 AM
Look it up on Roolieb's website. As I remember . . . 28 is 28 30 is 30 32 is 32 . . . but look it up to be sure.
Thanks, Stan. Roolieb does have some great info --this link was especially helpful: http://nebula.wsimg.com/479cc9a492d...4493EDB42A0ECA4EC&disposition=0&alloworigin=1 However, my same questions stands: Do I have room for a flathead V8? I assume there is, since many people have done it in the past to '28's. However, I'm going to have one chance at cutting this fantastic hood I found. Thanks!
Here's a 28 with a flattie and stock hood. Can't find the engine picture but he recently drove it across Canada on the Canadian hot rod tour.
