Hot Rods Model A reverse eye front spring question

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Nosetime, Jun 3, 2018.

  1. Greetings. I am looking to set up a reverse eye front spring on my roadster. My question is , would it be preferable to trim the second spring to fit the reverse eye? Or just use number 3 from the bottom as the second spring? My feeling is to trim to fit and make up my pack omitting some smaller leafs for ride height. I am using the spring from a sedan so starting with 10...will go with something between 5 and 7. Thanks in advance.

Not sure what weight you have in your engine bay, but it is a good idea in my book to have the 2nd nice and snug with the main leaf but not touching the eye of the main leaf.
Your overall weight will partly determine how many leaves will work for your desires.
The rest will be on what ride comfort you are seeking...

Just got done doing, and re-doing my front spring.
Count on dropping it in and out a couple times.
If you get it right the first try, you’ll be ahead of the game.

I used the 3rd leaf, took it apart and installed the 2nd.
Installed snug like fiftyV8 said, then jump on the front to make sure it doesn’t bottom out.

  4. Thanks, that makes sense looking at it.
