Thanks man, tryin to finish up the brakes and clutch pedal stuff and blow the frame apart to plug some unwanted holes. Then prep the chassis for paint.

Well, as usual, life gets in the way and progress has been slow for a while. Some of you guys know that I haven't felt good for a long time. Doc says I have Addisons Disease. Manageable but I will never be 100% like I was 3 yrs ago. What'a ya gonna do. I just keep pluggin along. My brother is a big help, this thing would never get done without him. Ok, enough of the pity party, lol. Here's an update:

The chassis is done as far as fab work goes. It is blown apart right now, I have to box the rear "Z" then we will start painting everything in the next week. Once the paint is dry it can be re-assemblem and the engine can be painted and dropped back in, well, after I screw the trans back together. Once that is all done I will post some pics.

I just found this thread and I confess I don't SQUAT about early Ford hotrods but threads like this teach a lot if you just pay attention and look closely at the photos - thanks, yours are very clear!

When I retire in a couple years I plan to do a full frame off on my '55 Chevy truck - nowhere near as cool as your truck, but your stick-to-it've-ness is an inspiration.

P.S. I also admire how you're dealing with a serious illness - give it it's due but not letting it stop you, and though its a bummer not throwing a "pity party" as you put it. Can't wait to see the blow apart, holes welded, prep and painted chassis. I love it all.

Thanks man. My brother said "even if you get out to the shop for 30-45 minutes every couple days and do something, it's progress". He's right, and it keeps you going. I have good days and crappy days. Last week I woke up for work one day and felt amazing. I have a bunch of vacation days so I thought, ya know, they're not gettin this one. I called off and worked on my hot rod all day, lol. Pice will be up in a week or so. 55 chevy trucks are cool man.

Stay with your vision, it will come.
Sorry to hear about your illness, hope you can keep it in check, so when it comes time to enjoy the fruits of your labor, you will really be able to enjoy it

Its soon time for me to get back on mine too..your Truck looks kick ass

  16. Just caught this build. Very well done and your info is helping me tons with some of the details I am working with. I am starting an A coupe so it will be very similar.
How much space do you have from the top of the tie rod to the frame? And even though you ran the tie rod over the bones, is there a problem if they end up under the bones?

Anyway, great work and thank you.

Oh yeah, forgot, what year bones are they?

    The parts look good.
You are at the right place for quality help and solid advice.
My model A is a third or fourth generation Hot Rod/Street Rod.
It is a all steel cobbled together with 29 and 31 parts. Frame and body 29
Cowel forward 30-31. You can mix and match and still have a great car.
The only thing i will add is to spend some money on your frame if you use a Model A frame box it and add a good croos member.
Send more pictures keep us posted.

Yes we need an update. I can't believe all the Model A p/u builds that are on here lately. I'll get mine going soon. I'm such a slacker... Mike

Here are some new pics, nothing exciting. Chassis, drivetrain and firewall are done now, trying to get things together for autorama. It's far from being finished so it will be an "under construction" entry but we just wanna be there. I think it will be pretty presentable. Should take it for the first ride this summer, hoping to make it to Midnight Mass Detroit.

    Looks good! Nice firewall.

The proportions look right on, is that bed the stock length?

Trucks are cool and, I think, make great lookin hot rods. The fact that you can get a decent cab and box cheaper than a coupe or roadster body doesn't hurt either.:D
