Has anyone ever put a front end from a 40 ford under a model a? If so what spring was used and did you keep the spring infront of the axle or move it to on top the axle?

Spring on top of a 37 up axle will need to be a custom length. There are no OEM springs that will work. So have one made, or order one from Posies.

Spring ahead; that will move the axle back from where the A axle is.

Either way, try to keep the split bones tucked under the car as much as possible, because those 37 up axle perch holes are out farther, and your tires will hit the bones on turns. Or, some cars had bones that were bent inwards, halfway back, so the tires could turn all the way.

  4. Your 40 Ford spindles, kingpins, brakes and hubs will work with a Model A axle.

28 to 36 axles aren’t hard to find …. there’s no reason to use the 37 up axle.
