Couple a beaters.. Both with 5 1/2" chops... clic pic for larger image*
Now we're talking! Thanx, Gary
Love these 2
Model variety and soft top aluminum...3" chop according to history...
Gotta be careful where I stop the side windows they go 2.5 inches beyond top or door
I'm looking at a lot of work ( and LOUVERS!) to call those "beaters". Not Pebble Beach material, but I'd put them in my garage, no problem!!
My 29, It has a 6'' chop. Here are two simple things you can do if you like heavy chops. I have one of those cheap mirrors with a handle, I keep it on the floor. Just in case I need it at a traffic light. The other is a soft pillow. It keeps you low and comfortable. My old coupe is in need of some new primmer, so these are older shots. The Rat Fink pillow is my new seat. Next I need to go to Walmart for some flat black spray bombs. lol Ron...
2" for an old guy !
2 inches is the way to go you would hardly know
Edco that is a beautiful car! Still think I am going take mine down 3 though.
Thanks, I need the view ! 3 is cool also, cars look so different with or without fenders
looks great in that shot, mild chop fenders and some ground clearance..way to go.windscreen wipers halogen lights and disc brakes ule be driving further faster and longer than the guy singing from a 100% traditional hymnsheet
3" with fenders ( channeled 4") fenders and aprons cut in
3" without fenders
4 inches on my current project.
My son's 30 coupe,3" chop
Posted a while back when my car was in primer. Here it is mostly finished. Both cars have a solid 4" out of the tops.
My driver on the left at 6" and my project on the right at 4 1/2".
Anymore pictures of chopped 28/29 coupes?
Took 4 out of this project last fall. Warming up now so we will be back working on it soon
My 30 coupe
...and the amount of chop is?

One of the best threads ever. I refer people to this all the time. Well done!

Great thread. Another article here on the HAMB by guys that have done it, helping out newbies like myself. I have a 31 model A laid out for a 5" chop.
I have a folder in my computer that has all of these pix in it so was updating/adding to it when I came across this post by 3wLarry (thanx Clarktm & old.hot.rodder for bringing it back to the top). Sure do miss that guy...
Glad to see this thread is still helping people.
