I'm building a model a and i cant really decide whether or not to channel it or leave it alone, i was thinkin of either buying a frame from brookeville or rileys auto but i wanna see some pics first of some unchanneled a's on aftermarket frames.......anybody got any????
I'm deciding the same thing but leaning toward using a stock frame, 4" front axle drop, z the rear 6" no channel, chop it later on. If you have a clean body you don't want to cut up your floor. no pics yet
If you are not going to channel it, I think it would look a lot better with a stock frame under it. I have a 29 I am working on.
The "new" trend is going to be to not channel them. Here's a picture from Mokan lifted from Nuroadster. It's my '29 PU and Rocketman 402's Coupe. Neither are channeled, but have stock frames that have a simple step in the rear.
I'm going to unchannel my coupe. Somebody did a shitty job way back when. Floors were torched out and 3" heavy wall angle iron was gas-welded in for body mounts. At least two of the welds have popped. I'm gonna set the body on top of 32 rails when I re-do it.
here's my 29, it's sitting on a Chassis Engineering Model A frame. The rear of the frame has been narrowed and z'd 3". It's got coilovers on the rear. It's got a 4" dropped front axle with reversed eye springs. The top has been chopped 3".
if your a man of any size then you wont fit in it i am 6'4" 240 lbs and i have a real hard time driving my buddys coupe that has a chop and no channel i couldnt imagine having both and tring to drive down to china town just my thoughts tk
I like them both ways, it depends on what your going for in looks. If you channel, limit to the width of the frame.
