In furniture classifieds I've been tempted to call and see the "chester" drawers that someone has for sale...It's funny everytime I see it.

  2. How about Pick-up trucks advertised with either a hard or soft "Tunnel" cover (tonneau)

  3. WRONG!!! I worked in a factory for over 20 years that makes Truck wheels. The Rims are indeed the Rims - you got that right. In a modern sense, a wheel is either cast as one pc. and machined after... or utilizes a rim and disc center - press the disc center into the rim and weld it. Viola! Wheel!!!

Early Heavy trucks had "de-mountable" rims where the hubs had very heavy spokes that stayed on the truck and the rim/tire assembly has no center and was removable.

In an early example for cars and light trucks, a wheel had a rim, spokes made of wood or wire, and a hub - sometimes the hub even had a brake drum included into the mix.

When combining a wheel and tire, the end result is a "wheel/tire assembly".;)

A workmate was talking about the new car he just bought for his missus. He told me the engine's rated at XXX kilowatts. I said what is it, a bloody light bulb?

"Easy fix" is the one that gets me. Then he commences to tell me what part it needs and how little it costs.

  8. Ooh,ooh, I've got one I hope hasn't been brought up. What the hell is a roll pan. I know what a rolled pan is, and I know they didn't come stock on any vehicle, you had to make them.

I hate it when some girl friend of some other chick says her friend is hot and it turns out she has tits that are lopsided or one is bigger than the other one. Or one of her nips is pointed toward the Jones. Shit-Hell

O.K. one that really gets to me, like fingernails on a chalk board, "Belly Tanker". It is a Belly Tank, or Belly Tank Lakester, not belly tanker, or tanker. A "Tanker" is a vehicle that carries liquid down the highway, or a hero that crewed an armored vehicle in one of several armed conflicts. Just my .02.

People who can't spell irritate the hell out of me. They know how to use a computer but can't spell or use basic grammar. Whe I read something I like to read it not have to try and figure what the hell is he writing.

  14. No Reserve and starting bid are completely different things.

A starting bid is just that. A reserve can be any amount above the starting bid. Auctions have their own jargon.

    "Ulcer"

That reminds me of something I noticed long ago, certain spelling errors are conducive of regional accents, you say it with a different inflection, you spell it with one too, one iof the little things that bugs me is the use of "Setting" instead of "Sitting" and I never understood it till a friend from the south recently said "sitting" to me and it sounded like "Setting".

  17. Nope, but it's a losing battle. I had a kid tell me about his dad's MGB with wire rims. I asked him what the spokes were made of. He just looked at me. They might have been rimz, I'm not sure.

it bothers me when people write things that are one big long sentence with no capitalization or punctuation i find it makes it hard to read i know with all the texting stuff going on it seems to promote this kind of behavior but even the texts i get that have no punctuation or capitalization bug me writing is a form of standardized communication that is the reason we came up with capitalization and punctuation to make it easy to read

Especially when they misspell it in the entire description, then they post photos of the car that clearly show badges that say "CAMARO".

Don't get me started on Cadillac converters.

  29. The word "ROADSTER" to describe any old car, tends to drive me nuts.
