I'm not familiar with these starters, but did find this.

Many newer GM starters use bolts with a slightly larger 10mm shank that will be a sloppy fit if used with ⅜" bolts. This can be an issue with some remanufactured starters that have been fitted with an incorrect (newer style) nose cone with the larger 10mm holes. Or when installing a newer style PMGR (Permanent Magnet Gear Reduction) starter onto an older engine. I believe GM offers some special bolts just for this purpose. GM # 12338064 bolts have a 10mm shank combined with ⅜" threads and are 4.330" long. And GM # 14037733 have a 10mm shank with ⅜ threads and are 1.66" long.

Well worth the effort to get the right bolts and have a hassle free smaller starter.

probably because you think there is something different about an "early block". They're all 3/8" threads...but the later small starters used 10mm shank bolts.

678107 Dorman, two bucks at rockauto. Or use a GM number listed in a previous post.

Wednesday the guy at the commercial counter told my wife that I didn’t exist, that he needed to know the trim level of my truck and
that 1 headlight for my truck was $35.00 .

Then my wife gets me on the phone ,,,,,
I told the guy - Why are you giving her a hard time ? Look it up by the phone number because the apostrophe throws off your computer. ,,,,,,
    Ohhh there’s your account.
What’s the trim level,, Lt, LS,,,,

I said it doesn’t matter just pick one.

    Your cost is $ 29.00

I said it should be about $5.00 ,,,,

    He says NO WAY!!!!!

I told him commercial account, back shelf,,, 5.00.

He says we don’t have a headlight bulb for your truck that is 5.00

I said you’re not doing so well today.
First you’re giving my wife a hard time,,
    You said I don’t exist,,
You don’t need a trim level
And you don’t know anything about the commercial bulbs....

    Hold on ,,,,,

Comes back and says $4.78 I didn’t know you wanted one of those bulbs.
