Kyle and I left Ellis at 11:30 Friday and beat a path to Joplin. (felt like a path at times) Made it to the parking lot a little late after a large lunch in Salina at a buffet. Really really stupid thing to do in a roadster on a hot day with a lot of miles in front of you, eat massive amounts of food. I know these are low light but the ones with my flash sucked. Love this Stude, wish I had another set of rear fender to do the same to mine. This Riv was killing it. Mile deep black paint and silver guts...I like it alot. Drive by in a Willys, it sounded healthy. Green gasser, looks like this one has survived awhile so the green=bad luck must not have applied. Sweet truck! Cooler full of pop? Looked cool sitting on the front seat. Friday night we hung out with Jeff and talked blower motors. It was great to meet you Jeff! Congrats on winning the Cup!
Saturday morning we headed over to Route 66 in Kansas to drive all the way down it(10 miles or so, Ha Ha) Bridge to Galena(think that is spelled right. Wow!!! Cool paint! I'm not really a Vette guy but this ain't your average Vette. Some bitchin cars with dual port-a-heads!!!!!! Jerk the fenders on it and go racing. I liked it. Interior shot of the Stude gasser pickup. Nice. Drilled plates on the green roadster...Just the right amount. This sbf sounded nasty. Anyone know how he ran?
Stude gasser! The wheel stand this car pulled was bitchin. My camera sucks for action so I missed it. Predators sleeping! Nice to meet you both of you. I like the fact they both drove in and raced. Cool paint. Thanks for putting on this event. I will have a car in the race next year for sure!! It was hot as hell and we needed to be back so we headed for home. Western Kansas sunset!!! 800 miles round trip and the Roadster didn't even break down this time!!
You need strong batteries to take photos at night like that. But your daylight photos rock! Bowtie Brown was referring to the swap area of the drags where he was a vendor. I was too but didn't take any photos of it.
My wife won't let me have the "good camera" ....track record of breaking stuff I guess! On it's best day ever this camera was sub standard
God do I miss that dash... But there must be something wrong with the speedo... only 80? Is the gas gauge still Dyslexic? If so... you're running on empty!
Great photos and glad to see the roadster there Toast. Ha ha, finally one of my cars made it to the event. I already miss it. I hope your having a blast!
This sbf sounded nasty. Anyone know how he ran? Yeah, this is mine.... Thanks for saying it sounded good. Unfortunately I didn't have much luck, broke the accelerator pedal off it's hinge, fixed it and due to the awkward position hit my knee and missed 3rd, and then busted the pedal again, this time for good. Ran 13.78 @ 100mph part throttle in 3rd & 4th. Had a blast doing it though! Did take a couple in car videos... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Z_3QwkO4yA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsMq_akjRdw p.s. that's just a little 289, in case you were wondering
Bruce, good to talk to you also. The HAMB drags exceded all expectations. Next year I will be there with a dog in the hunt!!!
