Does anyone know if you absolutely must run tubes with this tire? I know Mickey T says you should, but I have been told that you may be able to do without them. Thanks in advance for any help!

It just help keeps the air in the tires. This may sound kinda crazy but some racing guys coat the inside of their slicks with dawn dish soap and let it dry before installing the tire to help seal the pores of the sidewall. Suppose you could do the bead as well right before mounting .

If your a nerd then I'm a dumbass so here goes...how much soap? Is it diluted with water? If so then is there any certain percentages? Should I just put my tires in the tub with me when I bathe. Last one is just a joke...I never bathe lol.

Don't dillute it just wipe down the inside real good, and no screws.
I run M/T slicks on mine done this way and they'll hold air for weeks.

ran them for years- no tubes, till i bought a set where one had a cavity or blem- large pore that would bleed down over a week- Since they dont have enough rubber inside to buff for a good tooth to glue a patch to, and i had a tube handy- i put it in (just that one tire)

9 times out of ten, you wont need them.

X2.....Jus keep up with the air pressure and some hold air better than others. The tubes in them create a tad bit safer combination for lotsa street miles but that's just a personnal choice. The main thing is the air issue.

Good luck and Happy Hot Rodding....you got a bitchin ride !!

  19. Neve ran tubes with mine but once in a while I'd have one that would go flat in a week.

go easy- just turn them over a few times to clean them off- you dont need to burn them down with a John Force burnout to get a good hook- unless you got some serious wheaties under that hood...

welcome to getting a dead hook when you couldn't before....

Thanks for that 69Fury because I probably would have burned them up pretty good! I can't wait to see the difference.I hope it's dramatic.

They aren't the end all be all for traction if the suspension geometry isn't right, but even if that's the case, they'll start to hook up lots earlier. play with pressures until the burnout stripe is even darkness all the way across.

i ran 20 psi cruising, then let them down to 13psi for a run- 28x12.5 15's on a 4100 lb car- they do get a bit floaty on the highway but it's nothing you cant get used to.

do NOT try to run 30plus psi in them,lol...

This depends how heavy a car you run them on, how hard you launch, whether or not you put bead screws into them, what tire pressure you use, if you run them at a low pressure and put a hard wrinkle on them you will lose the seal on the bead and could grenade them. Use a little moose juice compound, hook them right up.

Thanks Rick and Francisco! Well my car weighs 2515 without me and 2730 with me. I'm running ladder bars and adjustable coilovers. 28x12.5 15's. I launch at about 4500 with tko600 and 4.11 rear gear. I was thinking about using 12 lbs in them without screws.
