Are you going to use old Levis or bolt denim material? I've always wanted to use old Levis and put the pockets on the back of the bench seat facing the rear seat.

  5. Be truly traditional. Use old army or navy blankets. That's what I remember from the fifties.

Well actually, I'd use my Gloria Vanderbelt and Lane Bryant jeans thown in with some Dickies, etc...not that the brand matters...

  9. Sorry for the misdirection, but "South of the Border" is a tourist spot (er...trap) on I-95 just across the NC/SC border (in SC). ANYONE that has been to Florida or points south of NC on I-95 has seen the big sombrero and all the little yellow shops.

I was not actually referring to the real South of the Border, international edition, (er...Mexico)!

  10. There was a rod at Run To The Sun in Myrtle Beach this year that took the largest pair of jeans I had ever seen, split them at the zipper and down the inseam, and made a bench seat back, complete with functional pockets, all four of them!!!

    Anyone got a pic?

I used to go down a couple times a year. There's not much there I want and the prices are high. Now you have to have a passport so fuck that.

  12. For you bad-asses you're gonna have to find some Toughskins for seat covers. Levis are for wussies.

They work great! But it has to go with the rest of the car. My daughter brought me a pair from Mexico to put in my '41 Ford.

  16. I was going to buy a Mexican blanket at Viva Las Vegas, but they seemed very thin compared to what I've seen in Mexico and other places.

Been looking for American Indian blankets around here, but all I've seen so far are Indian rugs.

    Got bucket seats?
An old, but never worn T-shirt slides right over a bucket with no probs.
Even the sleeves don't get in the way.
Did that on my Ranger pickup when the seams started splitting on the sides.

The young lady in Loco Louies post is beyond pretty.

Gorgeous is a much better description....

What in the Hell do real Mexicans need with blankets? It's hot as shit in Mexico....It's hot where I live in north Mexico (Texas) too. Those blankets anymore are cheap-ass junk to sell to us Gringgoats.....I've been to villa Acuna several times and I have never seen a Mexican eatin' the shit out of peppers and rollin' up in a blanket for warmth.....just don't happen.

  20. That's some funny sh!t...
    thanks for the laughs :^)

  23. If you are looking online, try "sarape" they call the ones that come in the black and white and one other color blankets, and the ones that are all different colors sarapes.

I'm sure you can take of of them new ones with the flouresent colors and leave them hanging over a clothesline and get them to fade enough to not look so... uh... flourescent...

Just had an event in Edinburg and went South of the border for 2 reasons:
    1. Taco off a cart.
    2. A couple blankets.

The taco was amazing. The blankets looked awesome, found some that were mostly black and grey without too much flamboyant design.

The fucking things unraveled apart in my carry-on on my flight home. Damn guy pulled one off on the fucking gringo with red sideburns...
