Dustin has been busy welding the quarters up tight, as you know that takes a lot of time and patience. Driver side is done, he is just purrfecting the passenger side.... This weekend I went to the Starbird show, now I'm thinking that I need some fins..... :)

Mic it is amazing what can be achieved by just changing out the wheels to steels with caps. There was a Merc at Starbirds show who's owner needs a heart to heart talk from you .
Maybe some 57 Caddie fins ?

Thank you for all of the feedback. It has taken longer then I had wanted but it is going in the right direction. The concept drawing below (from Rod & Custom magazine) is what inspired the original builder. Don't you miss the 90s?

  12. Every era has its look. Maybe someday the 90's will be in style again....but the difference between the concept and the finished product just emphasizes following all the way through is critical otherwise only going partway may not come off quite as successfully. ;)

I am guessing whoever built the yellow Riviera currently on the show circuit saw that rendering as well!
The '90s are already back!! (Which is a shame, because they just ended a couple years ago around here...)

straykcatkustoms, I saw another version of your Merc at a Starbird gathering, in a 1999 Custom Rodder magazine.
The front bumper had been returned, and the Merc grille had been replaced with one that looked much nicer, even with the other headlights. What was that grille? (The car was red at that time.)

@ Mo, thanks for the kind words, it was better but still needed some work. The bumper and the 50 Plymouth bumper did help it out. .. It was a kool day when I saw my Merc in a Kustom magazine.

How about an update, Dustin is a welding Wildman. We didn't make the LSR but it will be at the SK500

Dustin added a lip to the bottom of the rear quarters to match up with the bumper. Also replaced the ugly 70's gas door with a stock Merc door. Can't wait to get her back on the road. 11130479_957853194232933_7058911227116656102_o.jpg

Looking good Mick. The first time I remember seeing your car was at Ark City years ago (don't know if you were the owner then or not because we hadn't met), but I am really glad you ended up with it. You have a good eye.
Like the new skirt treatment better as well. Will see you in a couple weeks. Not sure if the T will make it but Terry and I will be there.

I've owned the car since the late 90's so it was me. It took me years to get it where I wanted it but I feel like
I'm heading in the right direction. I'm Blessed with a lot of kool friends that have helped me along the way.

Thanks for the kind words.... I hated missing HRH because I had such a great time last year. But being around when your son proposes to his girl friend was special. (kool thing is she said yes) I want to do the next one so I'll see you Sep 19th. See you in a few weeks.

Thanks, I can't wait to get back up to Indy. We plan on getting in to Austin late tomorrow night, probably see you Thursday morning for breakfast. I'm really looking forward to it...

Thanks, I'm anxious to drive it, Dustin removed a lot of bondo that was in the rear quarters. We are looking forward to hanging out with ya guys again. I need some Ice cream!

  25. Looks great Mick! The guys down here are super pumped for the Stray Kat and definitely lookin forward to seeing the "new" Merc!
