Interesting tidbit about this merc. Apparently someone was sitting in the back seat with a rifle and it went off! There is a hole in the armrest, upholstery panel, inner quarter panel and out. The outside was repaired but the inside wasn't. They must of been having a lot of fun in North Dakota.

Got these in. Forgot about them and was wondering how I was going to attach the sides of the headliner. Oops. [IMG][IMG]

I'm thinking I'm going to pull the head liner and make a couple adjustments. The headliner bows are just going through the seam allowances, which is making it fit close to the roof and give alittle more headroom inside. But it looks like the first bow needs to have it hanging a good inch from the bow to smooth out the angle change to the windshield. [IMG]
Not really what I wanted to do but I think it will make it fit better.

  5. I think we discussed before mine is hanging from tabs sewn to the seam allowance, so it hangs down a little farther like you are looking to do. However, there were spots I needed it pulled up tighter and rather than pull the whole headliner to make changes....I hate to say this publicly.....but.....I ran zip ties through the seam allowance to tie it right to the bows. You could maybe do the same thing going the opposite direction....leave them looser so it hangs lower. That might save you having to pull the whole thing out.

I forgot about that! I will give the zip ties a try and see how that goes.
(P.S. I have some bailing wire in a few spots where my holes ripped out. But don't tell anyone.)

Got the front bow hanging lower and restretching it. Looks a lot better. [IMG][IMG]

I'm pretty stoked about the fit! I'm going to tackle the front corners and the tack strips tomorrow. Going to make the center piece for under the back window, may be able to install the rear window this weekend!
Can't believe how discouraged I was with the rear window not fitting. Long time coming.

I can even sit in the back seat and just have my hair touch the headliner. Couldn't begin to sit in the back of the old merc.

Going to try and get the package tray started tomorrow and see if I can install a rear window tomorrow night.

Got the panel for the package tray fitted and got the rest of the window surround finished. Ready to see how the window fits. [IMG][IMG]

After 4 years of the procrastination about how the rear window is going to fit. It is finally in![IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]
    It's such a huge relief!

  20. Looks sooooo awesome!!!!!! Congrats on a job well done!

Did you end up having to trim down the pleat seams any where they laid over on the lip so the rubber would seat all the way down?

I trimmed the foam back on the pleats before I glued it around the window opening. So the green is glued right to the bottom of the window opening. And I trimmed down a couple pleats that were sticking up on top. Cut the piping alittle to short, but the ends are hiding under the seal.

  22. That's how I did mine, although I had tried to slit the piping and slip the cord out so I could wrap the piping tube better, but still cut it too short in a few spots...especially at the front garnish. Geesh! LOL

There is definitely a learning curve with upholstery work. Who would have thought!

Passenger front is glued and trimmed. It's alittle more loose. [IMG][IMG][IMG]

Driver side in. It's alittle better than the passenger side. Probably will adjust it when it's warmer out side. [IMG][IMG]
And the dash is back in. [IMG]
