    Same to you, HRP.

Remembering what the day is for because they earned the right to be remembered is the greatest respect that we can give.

    Everyone else, be safe.

The boys in cub scouts so he has duties at the cemetery.

This last year or so life has put me in contact with vets that have daily struggles both mental and physical. We owe them ............
    Somehow that gets forgotten

Thank you HRP for your post. So many gave their all for our freedom. Great to remember while we are celebrating the reason for the holiday.

My father lost his older brother outside of Rome in 1944 right around D day in the “other” European invasion. I wish I had the chance to know him.

My father was a soldier there in Naples Italy. Right before my mother died I asked her how long did you know dad before you got married. 6 weeks! Over the years and she told the story it seemed like a romance that went on forever. Some crazy shit went on back then. I tell my friends my father was a much better soldier than me .He liberated Italy and got the girl. I went to Vietnam came back hundred and 4 pounds and missing half my teeth. And no girl Anyway I hope you all have a great memorial day. Try not to get any tickets

My father was in WWII. North Africa against Rommel. then shipped back to US after getting burned on his legs and sent back over to France to follow up the Big Red 1. Was stringing wires for walkie talkies to work. Hated his job but did it anyway. Thanks Dad.

I especially think of those I served with in Vietnam who did not make it home.
    They all served with honor.

Will be thinking of my Uncle , Ronald Rodgers, RAF shot down over Belgium 1943. Also will be at San Diego Auto swap and show where everyone displays flags on their cars and stops what they are doing for the anthem:cool:

    Very well said HRP.
We all celebrate this weekend in different ways.
It's always been my favorite weekend in motorsports.
It took on a whole new meaning when I lost my 1'st born nephew to war.
My hope is we do all enjoy this weekend but please be aware it came with a cost.

Anybody who has served in the military can have a flag dedicated with there name on it after there passing on Memorial day to our Court of honor here in Red Oak. A town of 5000 people. Weather permitting, 15001 flags up at 6;00 AM and taken down at 4:00 PM. Dedication of new flags is at 10:15. A yearly Scan0655.jpg tradition on Memorial Day started when I was in Cub Scouts and later in Boy Scouts with putting the little flags and the grave markers of service Men and Women.

My two doodlebugs in last years Parade. Birthplace of Nathan Hale, hanged by the British at age 23 for being a spy for George Washington's Continental Army. Hale was the only volunteer that stepped forward when Washington asked. That is his Monument below. We will be entering just the Stars/Stripes bug in this years parade.

I never served, my biggest regret in life. Lots of my family did.

One of the best moments in my 40 years of life happened at a baseball game right after the National anthem. As we began to sit back down I was tapped on the shoulder. I turned around to see an older gentlemen with a Vietnam Veterans hat/jacket and he says to me “thanks for teaching your 4 year old son how to stand/cover his heart and say the anthem.”

I said....”no sir, thank you for providing me the chance to do that.”

I’ll never understand the sacrifice all the men and women have made.

    THATS WHY I’M THANKFUL!!!
