Folks Of Interest Members Help Each Other Out With Relay & Hauling & Transport By Posting Availability To Transport

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by trulyvintage, Aug 25, 2024.

  1. A member called me about
transporting a part and we talked
for awhile - I gave him some advice.

It got me to start thinking ….

I have tried over the years to
give members a chance to help out
    with transporting or hauling when
they are headed some with a vehicle
or if they are towing a trailer with
    space available.

    IMG_1549.jpeg

This thread is to help members assist
other members with their transport needs.

This is not for commercial business.

I am starting this thread because
    the Hershey Fall Swap Meet
is coming up so post if you
    can transport to or from
that meet or any other availability
you have with your vehicle or trailer.

    Please be specific:

How much room do you have ?

    Are you available to provide
    open or enclosed transport ?

Vehicle - parts - what can you transport ?

From what pick up zip code
to what drop off zip code ?

    Date(s) and route(s) available ?

    Thanks for looking

    Jim

Sounds great! I've had help getting car parts (strange size or heavy) across the country before and it was a life saver! I would say that to keep this thread manageable, posters should delete completed or outdated posts. It doesn't need to be 20 pages long in 6 months!

    Hello,
Looking to have a car and a couple of extra boxes of parts shipped from McMinnvile, Oregon, 97128, to near Los Angeles, either the port of long beach or close. At is ready for pickup, doesn’t run, but rolls. No park brake. Really prefer enclosed per buyers wishes. Leave me a pm and we can go from there. thanks

I will be taking an empty 24' flat deck trailer from Springfield, MO to Grand Forks, ND (travelling up I-35 and US10 through KC, Des Moines, The Twin Cities, and the Brainerd Lakes area) on September 20th. PM me if you need something moved along that route. The return trip back to Springfield (down I-29 - Fargo, Sioux Falls, Omaha, KC) the following week will be quite full and I will be limited to what fits in the back of the dually.

  13. Thanks for members for
    keeping this thread going …

Just a reminder - it would
    be helpful if you could
    post contact phone number.

    You can do it conventionally
    or like Loyd did above.

    Great idea Jim !!

I dont travel but pick up parts up in my area, pack them and ship them to Folks in different states

I picked up a top and bottom seat in my area for a guy in Washington as the seller would not ship

It was going in a 34 Dodge Coupe .... the buyer told me about Pirate.com

After measuring it several different ways and talking with Pirate.com Folks

The shipping was several hundred dollars less than UPS or FEDEX

I live close to Houston, Texas .... if any need something picked up and shipped I will help
I charge no fees even for the packing/shrink wrap ... glad to see Folks get there rides back on the road

Please let me know if this is something your willing to do and how much you need for your time.

Above is a picture of a similar splash pan for reference, the arrow is pointing to the panel I need transported.

This relay is a great idea, specially now that shipping is outrageous. A few years back, I got an engine from a HAMBer in Longview Texas and took it to a friend in north Arkansas, he took it to Missouri and from there the new owner got it

The official term is "Hamb Relay". ;)

We did them for years with no issue. I recently stored parts for a fellow hamber for about a year. I tried several times to get his parts relayed to Bonneville. No luck. He eventually showed up at the shop and took thrm off my hands.

I had a hamber show up on his way back to CA with a 22 Studebaker roadster tied to the roof. I held it for thr next recipient to pick it up.

I am centrally located, close to I-40 and I-35. The new shop will be about 15 minutes from the Chickasha Fairgrounds.

Thanks for bringing this up again.
