The thing that gets me are all the enclosed trailers, motor homes and semis etc. Does anyone haul their race cars on open bay period trailers? Not being hateful, just an observation.

BTW, great pics, thanks for sharing. It's on my bucket list.

  5. Here you go Chris (ok, it's not a period trailer, but it's open :D). Tony usually hauls with a '47 Ford panel, but 800 miles each way is a long way with no A/C...

Both of those full fendered Model As are bad ass.

heh....I guess I'm one of the few who are dumb enough. 1700 miles each way. It was wet when we got to Rockford.

It's in bad shape. It needs some tlc. The goal is to finish my tow vehicle, which should be done in a few months, then build a period trailer for it. Then address the car issues. I am leaning towards removing the radiator etc and make it period correct. It's way more driveable with the radiator, but it just looks wrong to me.

  13. The Southern Flyer was towed open from South Carolina. Big A got strip searched at the border and they took his Canadian Bacon, he still made due. We all slept on the ground if that get's any trad points

Here's a photo if my older brother's 57 and my nephew's 55. The 63 Impala wasn't at this years Meltdown, but has attended in the past. He flat tows with a 61 Chevy wagon.

  17. Man, an enclosed trailer with some sort of AC would be a damn good thing. I was about ready to go snuggle up with redlineracer and his 110 AC window unit sticking out the back of his SUV.

  18. It was pretty rustic in the back 40... but we did have a fan.

Maybe next year we can talk someone into dropping a port-a-john somewhere less than a quarter mile away.

  19. It's a real shame that the guys that own these old museum pieces don't really drive them hard... :D

  25. Oh yeah, besides smokey burnouts, dry hops and SFCC stickers on everything, there was also a pin-up contest. Thanks go out to all the loverly ladies who got dolled-up in the heat for us greasy hoodlums...

    The final 4...

Now, I don't know who this woman is (and I'm a very happily married man)...

...but I'm pretty sure I saw her drive in in this...

Which I think in itself should have got her a place in the top 4 finalists, cuz that's just damn cool.

  26. ...a lil trivia, a bigass RV got buried to the axles way back over the hill, they pulled it out with no problem with that halftrack,...don't know if the girl was drivin it then or not, but she was a looker.
    BigA,..very nice shots you posted!
