Event Coverage Mecum Kissimmee 2019

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by greasemonkey54, Jan 14, 2019.

  1. On Saturday I drove the 3 hours to the Mecum Auction in Kissimmee. I've attended the last 3 years as a spectator, to me it's a car show with over 3000 cars of all kinds. Looks like some good stuff there! Thanks for sharing, looking forward to seeing more. What were prices like? Did you get to see much of this stuff sell?

  5. WOW! Some really great offerings there. I gotta make it to one of these auctions one day. You are absolutely right, it's like one huge car show.

I also went last Saturday, mostly the see the Chrisman coupe and the 1 of 1 GT40 roadster (which didn't make the reserve at 10 million!). Preceding the GT40 was one of the 100 Ford Fairlane Thunderbolts! It looked mint and went for about 150K, as I recall. There was a lot of cool eye candy there, but admission has gone up from 10 bucks to 30, plus 10 to park. All that means is it will this will probably be my last visit there. Luckily, it's only an hour 20 from Tampa. Gary

Was this the same car that had a thread on here, and was build in Mass? I remember the thread, then seeing the car for sale on a local craigslist. had sort of Hawaiian/ tiki themed door panels and trunk, just fun enough without looking overtop and trashy. Weird it went from being for sale up here, to Kissimmee.

The Chrisman Brothers Coupe sold for 410,000 (estimate was 500,000 - 700,000), and the McMullen roadster did not sell at 700,000 (estimate was 750,000 - 1,000,000).

  16. I spent about 1 hour in the building watching cars sell. Corvettes were almost all over 80k. Old trucks were all 40k it seemed. A nice 59 Cadillac went for low 20s, a 62 Biscayne 409/4 speed went for 40. Looking at the results online it's up and down, some seemingly good deals and some holy crap moments. The tent the GT40 prototype was in housed almost $30million in cars.

  17. The 55 imperial conv was gorgeous and sold for $418k

  18. It's a cool experience, the dodge thrill ride is a blast but nothing is cheap about the day

  19. Over 3500 cars go across the block over 10 days. It's quite a production. I believe you are correct on the white/gold ford. She was a sweet custom

  20. That may be why the car looked familiar to me

  21. ..........I've got that magazine around here somewhere.
