My father and I have wanted to build a pair of 60-66 Chevy trucks for as long as I can remember. Well the day has come. He picked up a 66 about a month ago and I just arrived with my 63 last night. Both will be completely different other than the color. His being a short box step side and mine being a short box fleet. Lots of beer induced steel laboratory photos to come. I'll post photos of both tomorrow as they sit presently. Looking farward to doing this with the old man.

    Cheers,

alright day two of the twin terrors. man i havent seen my father this excited about something in quite a while. and his wheels are a turnin. both of our trucks are waaaaaay further along than i wanted but both were such a steal we couldnt turn them down. i really wanted to walk him through floor pan replacement and some pretty serious body work bc hes never had the chance to learn. oh well i told him we had plenty to do with my 53 belair after a preteen ran me off the road in october. left me with a busted rear 4 link, split fuel tank, crumpled rear fender, no drive shaft and broken motor mounts. anyway ill save that for later. hes always been a fan of dragstrip and ive got a 409 laying around and hes got it in is mind to straight axle the front of his 66 etc etc. well see how that goes. as far as mine is concerned, body will hit the ground with wide whites, salt caps, and some mild body work. well here they are. all coments, critisims, lies, and suggestions are more than welcomed.

Well got up early this morning and ran power to my taillights, replaced my brake light switch, installed new headlights. I also drained about 3 gallons of water out of the passenger door. The previous owner apparently thought it to be a good idea to fill in the door drains on a truck that was left outside. Nothing a little patch panel won't fix. It's been stuck in first since I've had it in my possession and sorted that issue out this morning as well. Now I'm looking for the big brown truck to deliver my fun boxes.

Good start on both of them. Makes me wish my father was into cars, that would have to be awesome to build stuff with your pops.

That would be awesome to see a 409 in your pops' truck. Good luck with the builds.

Well I had plans on getting a lot done today but borbon other funs got in the way. However I do have a question....this is the first inline 6 I plan on keepingand at first I really wasn't concerned about performance but I now have have bug to make this 230 kind of quick. So if you fellas that have played with these engines care to share what has worked for you as far as reliable streetable performance is concerned, that'd be greatly appreciated.

Nice trucks man. Me and my pops are partners on a couple of pickups and always do our builds together. Im pretty fortunate to have a dad willing to put up with all my shit. We have a 59 fleetside apache and a 63 gmc big v6 custom cab we just started on. Good luck with both of them they look great.

Thank you both. That in my opinion is what keeping this thing of ours alive is all about. Spreading it to people we think are worthy of being that goddamn cool. And my old man most definitely qualifies.. In saying so disregard my drunken words. Because they may not make sense to any one else

  13. Cool projects! I'd like to do something like that with my kids at some point in time. Trucks are a good choice, everything is available for them, used and aftermarket. And in the end, you can use them to carry shit around! Have fun with it.

  14. Head over to inliners.org for lots of info on the 230, as well as Leo Santucci's Chevy Inline 6 Power Manual.

My direct experience with a 230 was that moving to a bigger carb, and some bigger valves in a "lump port" head really woke the little motor
up. Oh...and a split manifold will make it sound like a p-51 on a strafing run... Which is to say awesome!

Fwiw, I'm now running a 292 in my '63 Biscayne and I LOVE the enginIf

Thanks for the info biscuit! Yep id live for my truck to sound like a p51. And Roadster, that Teuck looks fantastic. Everything works so well and as much as I'm not a fan of big rubber, that truck wears them perfectly. And thank you for the inspiration. I'll have to forward photos of your bed to the old man.

Today was the last day me and the old man will have had our trucks still road worthy until they're done. Went cruisin for a bit and grabbed a slice and a beer. Tomorrow evening I'm going to pull the bed off and begin hatching my plan of attack for The rear suspension. I usually am not a sucker for any kind of air ride "kits" but the thorbecke bros rear four link setup has definitely been on my mind. I'll post a link. If anyone has used this setup I'd love to hear some feedback.

    Until tomorrow,

  18. 230 or 235? The best I know, the 230 is a car engine with 4 main bearings and the same bolt pattern as an SBC. The best I know, the 235 was the pickup and larger truck engine with 7 main bearings and a different BH bolt pattern.
    Just thinkin'.
Look very close at the core supports on both trucks for rust below the two inner fender bolts you can see through the grille. If the horn honks with braking, you will know where the problem is.

well first off, apologies for my absence. since i type now with one hand ill keep this as short as possible. due to a gun shot to the hand and a broken ankle, this father/son project has been put off for a bit. since ive been down ive shaved some white walls and snapped a set of salt flats on the shark. thats been about all i could do for the time being. hope to get back to it mid summer. here are some pics of the painfullness for the morbidly curious. ILL BE BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well made huge progress with physical therapy last week so I decided to install 5" lowering springs in the rear and an adjustable panhard bar I made at the shop today tonight. Well see how that goes. I'll post pics as soon as I'm done( if I can finish at all)

Completely my fault. I took a Springfield xdm 9mm pistol on trade for some work, had the slide locked in the rear position and when I released it to chamber a round, it fired instantly without my finger on the trigger. Upon further inspection and research, there have been a few instances similar with this piece during police testing. So what did we learn here??? Not advised to trade for an unfamiliar pistol, especially one that was rode hard and put away wet, and above all, point muzzle in a safe direction! No matter how experienced you are shut happens. And the ankle was unrelated and happened a few days later. As they say, it's always somthin. And on a side note, my computer is at the doctor bc of porn viruses I suppose so I wasn't able to upload the drop photos. But I made it through with one hand rather uneventfully and the ol fleetside looks pretty good for the time being.

    Later fellas,

    Seth

Also, I don't want this thread to slow down bc I'm in slow motion, so I'd love to see some of your c10s with air ride as id love to discuss what/how you did it. Thanks in advance guys!
