Got a shift knob for x-mas from mooneyes-Can I drill and tap it to screw it on? I don't want to screw it up...I has a small hole nowhere big enough, though.

I tell people the best thing to do is to find a threaded insert from yer local pep boys, next thing to do is to step drill the existing pilot hole to the size of the insert., epoxy the insert into the knob, attach to car......the material isstrong enough to be tapped, just go slow and easy with the process......
