Forgot all about that until now. I remember I was on my way to basic training when I heard the news. Sad day.

  8. Yep, what a shame, talk about talent, it came naturally, he was on auto-pilot when he played. Who doesn't wanna party with a guy who slips on cake & knocks his front tooth out running from the cops after driving a car to the bottom of a swimming pool ?

One of the best drummers ever, easily.... he knew how to play AND live....

I have swam in the pool that he drove that Lincoln into. It's in Flint, MI, on Bristol road across from the Truck and Bus HQ. I believe it was a Days Inn the last time I was there. But then again, the last time I was there, Buick City was still there.....

    (edit)

To make it OT, he liked his hot rods, too...... I remember reading that he had some old "souped up" rods that he would only drive around his homestead, he would do donuts all over the lawns and raise hell....

    RIP Keith

Funny you should mention that 1899 Auto Parade, it was in New York City and Thomas Edison filmed it. I'll post the link to it, they're trying to ID all the cars, most were electric or steam powered.

Truly a loss. Between him and John Bonham, every drummer pales in comparison:(

  14. Keith Moon did indeed have a Rod..the one I can remember was a T built by Micky Bray (who incidentally died very recently too) .He had a car fetish that covered all sorts of stuff including Rollers, 40's Buicks and sports cars. I was once told by some guy (who told me he used to work for Keith) that Moonie liked to change down gears (particularly autos and when he being driven by someone else) without warning to get the car back in to the powerband!!! on one occasion, in an AC 428 Frua he did this at over 140 spinning the car in to a field (narrowly missing a policeman on a push bike!) at which point it turned over several times before stopping...The guy and Moonie climbed out of the passenger window to the waiting policeman..who just said "I thought it was you mr Moon!" and left
