I have been trying to buy several used parts for my 32 5w from a fellow on FB Marketplace in Nevada, TX, by the name of James Dulman. First flag was his prices are below market, second flag was only payment thru Paypal friends and family. When I said I will pay regular Paypal and add the paypal fee he didn't want to do it. He sent me pics of a whole car and said he was parting it out and they did show the parts I wanted just seems phony. Anyone know this fellow and if so is he legit? I think I know the answer.

Parting out a complete car and only taking paypal friends and family? Sounds like a scammer to me. Trust your instincts

Only use friends and family if you know the person. you have no recourse if you pay F and F don't get your parts. Facebook and instagram are full of scammers.....

never said it was or wasn't different. The Hamb classifieds is the safest place to buy parts in my opinion

My sense of logic tells me that by not accepting your attitude,
and either taking your offer or, saying oh well some else will, and move on.
He Turns up the Heat hoping to force you to do it anyway.
That's not how we play ball:eek:

Probably the most popular forums worldwide, hence the most popular for scammers.

    I can’t disagree with that !
Last year I had a friend who bought a car on here, - he lives here, - whilst the seller was in the USA. Bought on photos and a couple of phone conversations.
The two have never met, but the lengthy background on the Hamb gave them confidence to have a successful transaction.

He wants Friends and Family, for the same reason that you don't.

Imagine the biggest red flag ever.

Not just Marketplace. All of FB is overrun with scammers and bots.
And Meta doesn't give a shit.

Due to the new IRS rules, if you sell more than $600 per year and get paid through standard Paypal, they are required to send you a 1099-K, and you'll have to pay taxes on that income.
I was told that receiving payment through F & F is exempt from that 1099-K requirement.
You are going to see a LOT more folks only accepting F & F.

    I would be a little suspicious of someone parting out a 32 5 window…

    This isn't difficult.

Overland Park, Kansas to Nevada, Texas is only 7-1/2 hours drive one way.
Leave at 4:00 am get there at 11:30 am / 30 minutes to pick up / hit the pisser and head back,
arrive home by 9:00 pm same day.

Make it either one long day....
Or one day down / stay over / and one day back and make it a weekend event.

    Pay in cash - done.

If the seller comes up with any excuse not to meet, then you know your scammer answer.

It seems to me that anyplace it is free to sell old car parts is full of scams. As soon as they have to pay they seem to go away. Here it is free, but you have to post otherwise to sell. Scammers are generally too lazy to do that.

Nevada is less than an hour from me. If you get the guy on the phone and it's a legit not waste of our time. I could run over there & see the vehicle in person.
That said from everything I've learned it's probably a scam. The prices are cheaper than market value, parting out a 32, only friends & family... Red flags.

@L. Eckart Just curious, but you mentioned you were shown pics of the car.
Did the car look build able, or something used for a demo derby?
I don’t know value of complete ‘32s vs the sum of their parts, but might also be another tip off;)

If you have an image of the car did you try the search by image feature on Google?
