Shot at Maxton, NC on Saturday... way too many cool cars and I didn't have time to get out and shoot photos of many. Anyone else have photos? Gotta love the "Home of Customer Abuse" tagline...
Congrats to the Marty Martino team from Virginia. Marty's son set a new class record in his Studebaker, first time out, first voyage for the car. He's a local guy, been working on the car for quite some time. Three generations of rodders were there on the pit team, Marty, his son and his dad. Way to go, guys!
From Sunday. You couldn't have asked for better weather! Appologize for the quality....cell phone camera. Roadster going 203.5
How about the Stude the guy drove down from Ontario pulling a trailer AND he ran it! What did it run?
Made a lifetime of memories this weekend, especially for my 11year old daughter, Brianna! Highlight was talking with Keith Turk and the Heinke family about their Mopars!!! Pam Heinke is a very sweet person. Also, Greetings to the HAMBer I met driving the big Pontiac, whose boyfriend ran the roadster. I had to kid her about being called "Denise"!!!
Congrats to Ronnie Roadster from Wallingford, CT who managed to set 2 records over 200mph. Photos to follow as soon as he wakes up!
The bike photo is Randy Smith ... XB9 Buell engine sleeved to 750 cc ... there were 75 cars pre registered for the Hot Rod Shootout ... I have a few photos to post ... Joe
Did you notice his licence plates on the studebaker OTOGO200. His brother races the ranchero. It was a fast weekend on Saturday a 4 cylinder ricer runs 237 mph that was the fastest any car has gone at Maxton. Sunday morning a firebird runs 241 to take the track record. Sunday morning a bike runs 264 MPH that was the fastest any bike has gone, he got the track record for about 2 hours than another bike runs 272 MPH. Those guys have big one
Bike that went 272 was a Turbo Suzuki Hyabusa with a Charlie Toy fairing ... Rider/Owner is Bill Wenner ...
Great pictures. It was indeed a great weekend. Beautiful weather, fast cars (and bikes), great people. I spent most of the two days working my standard volunteer position in shutdown. Thanks for the great report here.
