History "Mature" H.A.M.B. Folks

62, and three weeks into retirement after 42 years in a brewery. Did my bit for king and country. Get so happy sometimes I feel like I just might blow up! looking to get the Econoline going this spring, then get back on the Sprite.....after I paint the Willys. Yikes!

Last November, at 77 years old, I, and my son drove my roadster, about an hour and half to get to Bruce Larson's open house. It was 17 degrees when we left my son's house, and about 30 degrees when we came back. We had the only open car there. It was worth it to spend that time with my son. I may never have that opportunity to do it again.

Have cut back to just six and a half days a week in the shop---have to do mowing and house jobs on Sunday. Here are some shots of projects going on in my shop; you guys need to keep a finger on my pulse cause when I croak there will be be some good iron hit the market. Right now I don't SELL anything but do BUY what I can.

I had stage 4 , I can remember the Doc , coming in my room “ I’m goin to tell you like it is , you have a 20% chance to survive 5 years “ March 12, 2018 was 25 years after that statement was made . Don’t give up the fight .

I will be 70 not to much later this year, but have always lived by the saying " growing old is inevitable, growing up is optional"

 

I see someone drug up this thread again. I answered it almost 2 years ago, so now I am 69 still working but will retire at the end of May or the first part of June. I still work part time,I just feel too good not to work at all.

 

Three years younger than my car..........

Coming up on 77 trips around the sun. Still racing this modified HAMB-style dragster and currently building a couple other hot rods.

My oldest kid turned 60 last June 1st, I was 21 and 2 months when she was welcomed in to this life. You can do the math.
I might have posted this somewhere else on this thread, but I don't remember doing that.

(that makes me 81 plus in case you were out smok'in during math class.)

 

I find that as I grow old, coming up on 70 in a few months that people I know, people that I served with, of just the old guy down the street who work on cars are no longer around. Some of my close buddies have even pass away. I am fighting it, still working, not collecting SS, still trying to do everything as if I was 30 years old. It is a down hill fight. As soon as I finishing building my new home I can get back to working on hot rods.
