I know it's been done, but I don't know 1)How well it works, or 2)Who makes the bellhousing adapters. The application is my '49 F1, which will run a stockish 302 with a 9" rear (mostly for the highway-friendly gears).

Is anyone here running this combo?

Wilcap makes the adapter, I can't help you with the other questions.

Not sure why you would want to do it, when the later top-loader three speed has sychromesh first gear, is widely available and is stronger.......

Well, I'd do it because the old Ford 3-speed is already installed (in other words, free) and all the clutch linkage works.

Plan "A" is still to find a good running 68-72 F-100 with a 302 and manual for cheap and use the entire drivetrain, but most all of the ones I've found locally have had automatics...
