Customs March meet at famoso whos coming

Another year, another "wish I could make it, but next year..." Damn

 

My wife and I will be there at 1000ft like we have been since 1921.
Anyone that misses it is REALLY missing out!

 

I had no idea the March Meet had been going on that long.

 

Wow....1921 ! That's when it was a gravel dragstrip !!

 

Im going up this Sat for the day to hang out for a testing deal(Top Fuel or F/C),,leaving my golf cart up there so I dont have to drag it home & then back up there again,
I'll try & post some sneek peek pictures this Sunday,soon as I figure out how to *subscribe* to this thread(and others)

Heading out Thursday. To those that may get lost out in the weedpatch they call "pit for HotRod class" I'll help point you back in the direction of civilization.
To spectate at Bakersfield is great, but to run a car here, for me at least, is a humbling experience that I never grow tired of:

SWEET COMET...make sure you come to the HOT ROD class FREE! BBQ friday night around 7pm....it's in the D.A.R.T. Racing pits....cant miss us....down by the end of the swap meet....flashing LED light pole in the sky..also the 2 white 68 Darts give us away...LOL..bring a lawn chair and drinks and your in !....last year we fed close to 200....this year will be the same...BBQ Beef...Rigatoni...Beans...Salad...Rolls...and homemade cookies!

As a heads up - you can drive your pre 72 vehicle in the show area for $5 + the entry fee. The flyer states the gates open @ 0800 but they claim they will open @ 0700 - per phone call yesterday.

 

This is the CHRR last Oct....I went for a chopper ride.

We went REALLY EARLY so we didn't have to park in the manure piles!
By the way, the '22 race was a classic!

 

Here's pit shot from the '27 race. Top Eliminator was 27.26 @ 61 MPH!

 

And that time was on the manure track before asphalt, hence the tire chains on the car on the right.

 

Well plans have changed so it looks like we'll be out for this years MM,I certainly want to do the CHRR in the fall,even if Ingenue is just a static display.

 

This was DragFest at Famoso '09.
The girl in blue in the other lane is my friend Michelle.She does clutch work on the Fighting Irish FC that I posted & knows her way around a Fuel Car bigtime,,,does the clutch set up .

I have a shot of the chick on this side from the front but it cant be posted here,,damnit!
