Can someboby come up with a list of part numbers / application, for Mallory YC distributors. This might aid in identifying them at swap meets.

  5. I got a bunch of requests for this list. Instead of mailing out a bunch of copies, I'm gonna try to post it on my web site as soon as possible. It won't be for a week or 2, but I'll put it up there for all to see. I just put the W & H DuCoil list up there for fellow HAMBers a few weeks ago. :)

I'd love a list. Some stuff I know: The numbers for individual engine types used to be free standing with other info before and after, so a small-block Chevy one designated as a 310 would have a number like ZC-310-hp. The prefix gives the Mallory family type it belongs to (this got complicated at times) and the suffix is info on the type of advance curve. Often, you may need more than one number at the fleamarket--SBC, for instance, had two designations, that 310 for most and I think 475 for Corvette, which got a tach drive. There were at least three numbers for '49-53 flatheads.
Later, maybe around 1970, all the info above went into one long number, BUT the familiar three number code was buried in there, I think beginning at third digit of the long number. Mallory made distributors for just about everything, including stuff like Auburn and Crosley, but discontinued obsolete stuff very quickly, so finding all the stuff from say 1949 to 1970 is quite a job.
I'll try to bring in clarification and detail on this stuff tomorrow.

    Oh yea...

  12. A wierd Mallory Distributor number: YL-519 BV appears to be a SBF marine with a reverse rotation cam gear.

Also -- Is there a way to adapt a SBF distributor to fit an FE?

I've only got 2 hipo FE distibutors and 4 SBF aftermarket. I'm looking for a reasonable way to convert. Comparing the 2 styles side by side, it seems it could be possible.
