Technical Mallory Dizzy ID Help Appreciated

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Hemi325, Apr 22, 2017.

  1. Picked up a Mallory PHOTO CELL MOTION DISTRIBUTOR, Part Number YC 310G which has a #4004, two piece cap. Inside, the rotor is round (about 1 3/8"), no points and under the rotor is a round, windowed (Hall Effect?) bakelite piece that spins by a pickup attached to the inside edge of the distributor body. It does not look like it ever carried condensers, tho the screws which would have attached condenser brackets and the typical large Mallory condensers seen on other YC distributors, are in place.

Anybody know what application and year this distributor is for?

    Thanks for the help.

310 is a Chevy distributor, eh? Sounds like it's just an early version of the Unilite?

Photo Cell is optical, not Hall Effect.

pictures help, or at least they keep us entertained.
