  1. WOW!!!
What a story! Congratulations on the new treasure. That's something we mere mortals (Sam excluded!) can only dream about. Good to see the grandson included; that's very cool.

I’m now trying to get the engine started. I know almost nothing about flathead engines. I feel like an old dog being taught new (ok, older) tricks.

Nathan, my grandson, was helping me in the shop when it came time to prime the carb and hit the starter switch. He asked to be the one to press the starter button. Even though it didn’t fire, just having the engine crank over thrilled him beyond belief.

Check out the latest photos of the car, wearing its new tires & wheels. It will look a lot better once the dropped axle is installed.

In talking with other folks that know the history of my car, I’ve found that the original owner sold the car for $50, in 1956. The second owner sold the car to Mr. Penley for $1000, in 1970. So, in 2018, I continued the trend and paid the previous owner many, many, many times more than his 1970 purchase price. It appears that this trend stops with me, though. My plan is that the car will be enherited by my grandson.

I for one would not put a dropped axle in. That is the perfect look of a late 60's early 70's build to me.
