Hi Guys, I am looking running a Mag on my slingshot and am trying to keep the electronics to a minimum thus keeping the look of a true 60's car. I have seen this on Ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331602765500?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT Can anyone on here please explain how the limiter works with it? I'm at a lose.
Probably makes it miss ( intermittent grounding) when you climb up on the limiter. I am sure that it is adjustable and you hook your tach up then rev it and turn a screw.
The one's that I have seen , The rev limiter is adjusted with weight & springs with central foce so it grounds to kill the mag ( grounds out ) when RPMs fall below the set Rpm , the Ungrounds the Mag
I am unable to see the top of the rev limiter , I am certain that on top of the limiter there is two terminals , One would be to chassis ground , The other one would go from the other terminal directly to the magneto finger nut , & you also woul put a Toggle switch to chassis ground the the mag finger nut , Toggle open to ground out mag to turn off , Toggle closed to run , Very simple ,
Do you have a picture of the "wire" end of that limiter. I run a mag also and have an MSD box for magneto's that I have been trying to hook a shift light to. I saw something like what you have pictured only it was a transducer that converted RPM's to an electrical signal for a tach (I think). I have a 2 piece tach in my car with a sender that works fine but I want that shift light and be able to RPM control my air shifter. Pat
Hhhhhmmmmmm I thank that Is Not aRevlimiter , It's a cable driven Signal converter ,,!!! To run a regular 12 V modern tach ,
I know how it works , but I curious to see how you set the RPM , it should be CentricForce , with spring & weights , I am unable to find instructions on this unit , Moroso is close wright now , I would call
Unit is not a pulse generator. I ran the exact setup back in the day in a D/Gas car. The rpm shutoff is adjusted by rotating the slot and lock screw on the side. Grounds the mag. Still have the Jones Motrolla tach.
Hi Bob, Can you remember the wiring layout? Or anything else about it, are they a reliable unit. Cheers Andrew
Sorry, been too many years ago. Unit was very reliable tho. Used it in a 57 Chevy, briefly in a 67 Chevelle and later, in a front engine dragster.
Very popular in the very early pro stock days. Loosen the set screw and twist the top. Thats what the slot is for. Never use heavy grease on the cables.
