My wife's god daughter got a real thrill driving my T-bucket around an empty parking lot last night. The pic is a little blurry but you can still see the smile from ear to ear. She's only 15-1/2 years old and has a learners permit. Maybe she'll get the bug and harp on her father to finish his '32 p/u.

  2. Good work!!! Nothing like turning another youngin' on to the joys of rust, raw horsepower and the joys of rods. How long did it take for that smile to leave her face?

I remember my first ride in a rod and it was a T-bucket... (wistful faraway look in his eyes)

That is one happy looking kid! That's a good argument for letting someone else drive your car from time to time.

Good for you. She'll remember that for some time. Might even get her to thinking in a new direction about what kind of car she might want.

I know from my own experience how that can effect you. In 1956 my aunt arranged to get my brother and I a ride around our local 1/4 mile dirt track after the races one night. It was an mid-30s flathead ford coupe and in 1956 they raced them pretty well stock except cut down fenders and a hopped up flatty. Kinda like this

I remember that like it was yesterday and from that day on I was hooked.

i think it is very cool for any of us to encourage kids to join us in this part of our lives. when i see a kid trying to look into my car, i always open the door and say "hop in". it is really great to see the effect that it has on the kid.
