One thing to look out for. There was an early 4 speed--tagged M4---which has weak syncros.
A couple hard shifts on a cold day--before the trans lube warmed up--and you had syncro parts in the lube.

I know this is an old thread but I found this thinking about doing the same...so I am not the only one.
Few questions since I guess you guys have been driving it a bit.
-How are the gear ratio's?
-How is the position of the shifter compared to orignal?

And did anybody do this with the original driveshaft and axle?

gear ratios are fine, I'm running a ford 9 inch in my coupe with somewhere around .300 gears and it rarely winds out above 3000 rpms ,bangers cant stand high rpms real long or the don't last. The location of the shifter is almost in the same spot as a ford 3 or 4 spd. I am running a ford banjo in my roadster but using an open drive conversion. Guys have figured out a way to mate it to the torque tube but there's not a lot of detailed information.
