I want to keep the stock suspension and not looking to go into the weeds, maybe soften up the ride a bit and lower it a couple inches, what can a guy expect by removing a spring or 2? also will it wander all over the road if springs are removed? thanks!
A spring or two will get you about an inch and a half to three. Shouldn't cause any wandering. Don't remove much more as your spring travel greatly reduces and you won't like them potholes or RR tracks.
Don't take out consecutive leaves, the ones with the riveted clamps or the longest one right next to the main leaf. On my '40 GMC I took out the 4th and 6th from the main, counting the main as #1 on my '55 Chevy snd series I took out #3 and #5. Don't cut the rubber bump stop down unless it's hard as a rock, in which place renew it. Of course they bottom out if you go through a dip too fast...
I'll start with 1 then and see how it goes, I don't want to render the truck useless for hauling the odd load of garbage and stuff, not gonna be lugging a cord of wood though either thanks for the help
