Sorry, I'm having trouble finding 'whole' pictures of the car...
This is my dad's '51, its been a custom just like you see since 1957 in Virginia. Tom Culbertson brought it up here (Indy), installed another flathead that was lying around, and drove it everyday for a couple years (snow, rain and all). Dad (Mercdeuceman), got it from Tom, did some tune ups, new exhaust and interior. With the manual threespeed, twin carbs, Offy heads, fenton headers with no mufflers... makes driving this car a blast from the past.:D
Oh yea, there's an old pair of panties in the glove box that's been there since the early sixties. Like to know the story behind that one

  17. After Talking to a lot of old timer's from L.A, There were a lot more merc's and custom's in general cruising the street's unchopped and nosed and decked with shaved handles then there were with a chopped top. Back then it was radical and it took a lot of BALL'S to do it. I love merc's either way.

Chopped Mercs are cool. But my opinion, for what its worth,a lowered 51 cpe(and I mean lowered),nosed, decked shaved doors, duals and Appleton 112's is the cats ass.Of course it would have to be unchopped and BLACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

I owned this one for 32 years but never got it to a finished state although I put a lot of miles on it

Sitting on a 75 Monte Carlo frame stretched about an inch and a half. 455 Olds engine and turbo 400. The ugly wheels and painted bumpers are his choice though.

The original rear bumper off this car now resides in Chicago on a Hambers chopped 51.

    Thanks for the compliment Marcelo

Had it sanded and ready for paint. Was sitting on the front porch at my sons house sippin' a Miller Lite discussing colors. Son held up his can and said "Paint it this color". I call it Miller Lite Dark Blue:eek:

heres my 49. I'm more of a radical custom guy, but ive got a chopped 51 that someone has already hacked up and cut the roof on....very poorly but none the less its a chopped 51 that i will eventually re-chop.
im trying like hell to make myself not cut the roof on this one, heck i even ran all my new wiring up through the A post and through the roof to the trunk in hopes that it would deter me from sawing throught the A post on this car!
im having a hard time with it. these cars look so good chopped!!
as for right now, the car is going to stay unchopped
